My new skin care routine

I have recently started to try and integrate a decent skincare routine in to my daily life. For this, I am setting aside time in the day (and evening) to make sure I properly cleanse and moisturise my face. In the past I have been guilty of washing my face in the shower and only moisturising if my skin looked dry.

As I am beginning to show signs of age around my eyes, I chose the Emma Hardie Age Support eye cream. I love the light, fresh scent and how very little goes such a long way. I would say this is towards the higher end in terms of price but as you need a small amount, it will last a long time before you need to repurchase. It can be applied day and night which I do, however, when I have a bit more money, I might look in to purchasing an intensive night time eye cream as well. If you have any recommendations then please let me know!

I am also using the BareMinerals Skinlongevity serum. I got this for Christmas in a gift set and it leaves my skin feeling silky soft. I use two pumps day and night before moisturising. This is also fairly expensive and something I probably would never of had the chance to try if I hadn’t received it as a gift, however I do see the benefit of using a serum now and will probably continue set aside a budget for serums going forward.

The difference in my morning and night skincare routine lies in the cleansers and moisturisers. In the day I use Korres Milk Proteins Foaming Cleanser and in the evening I use Liz Earle’s Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser. There are two reasons for this, firstly, I feel that I need a good exfoliating wash at the end of the day to get rid of all the makeup but additionally, I use the steam from the hot cloth to clear my eye ducts (as recommended by my optician). Both these cleansers smell amazing, especially the Liz Earle which is sweet orange and mint.

Finally, I moisturise with Liz Earle skin repair moisturiser for dry and sensitive skin in the morning and Clarins Multi-Active Night. The latter is very close to empty so I will be on the hunt for a new one. I am trying to make the move in 2017 to brands that are cruelty free so if you have any recommendations there too, I’d love to hear them.

Thanks for reading and please don’t forget to share your opinions on the products in my new skincare routine. Have you used any of these eye creams or cleansers and would you recommend them? Bx

New Life Changing Eye Makeup

I mentioned in my New Year’s Resolutions post that I was going to look after myself better and one of the things I wanted to work on was my appearance. I often have a tendency to wash and go without taking the time to blow dry my hair or apply makeup. Since I received my Naked eye palette from Andy at Christmas, I have found a new found enthusiasm for trying to look my best.

I am starting to make time in the mornings to make myself look presentable and today I thought I would share the products I have been using on my eyes:

  • The original Naked eye palette – mostly a combination of these three shades (Virgin, Sidecar and Darkhorse).
  • Charlotte Tilbury Life Changing Lashes eyelash curler in Rose Gold – beautiful and worth every penny so far.
  • Urban Decay Perversion eyeliner pen – stays place ALL DAY. Can be hard to remove, especially if you smudge your line when applying it in the morning but great it you get it right!
  • Maybelline Lash Sensational Luscious Mascara – very volumising, a great true black colour but my lashes can get clumpy when applying it. I think this is because of the bristles on the wand so I probably won’t repurchase it when it is finished.

Have you tried any of these eye makeup products and would you recommend them? I would say my Naked eye palette and the Life Changing eyelash curler are my favourites. Bx
