Back on YouTube

After thinking about it for years and a lot of procrastination, I have bitten the bullet and started vlogging again. I uploaded a video on Thursday and another today so there’s two for you to watch already!

The biggest difference this time around is that my children aren’t in the vlogs. This was 100% their choice and as 13 and 10 year olds, not only am I relieved, I also feel that this is the best decision for our family. I think being a teen and pre-teen is difficult enough without having to worry about what you’re saying in the public domain.

I touch on this briefly in my first vlog but in case you don’t watch it, I will explain my reasons for quitting YouTube for many years. Firstly, I used to overthink everything. If I started filming, when it came to editing, I would cut out anything that I thought could be misinterpreted. The problem with that, is that literally anything can be taken the wrong way and additionally, it is so difficult to predict how someone else is going to interpret what you say. Since my health scare in January, when part of my lung collapsed, I have changed my mindset and I am just putting content out there.

For me, I love creating content and my mission is to show my children that that is the most important lesson… I am creating Reels, TikToks and YouTube videos for me because it is a fun, creative outlet. It doesn’t matter that only 8 people have watched my YouTube video or only a handful of people like my social media posts, as long as I’m enjoying the process.

Another motivation for me, is that I am struggling to watch TV/films at the moment. When I am sat down on the sofa, my mind is wandering and I feel as though I should be doing something ‘productive’. I find it more fulfilling to watch YouTube or TikTok for content inspiration. I’m finding as well, that the more I film the less nervous I feel. Today in Boots for example, I could see someone watching me for a long time even though I wasn’t even filming, I was simply holding my camera (it was turned off as well). Although I was conscious of it, it didn’t make me feel nervous, whereas this time last year, I would have been so paranoid.

The link to my YouTube and Instagram are in my sidebar so feel free to check out my latest content. Bx
