I probably should’ve written and posted this on the 21st December as that was my dad’s birthday but anyway… better late than never.
I learnt how to crochet in 2022 and have been making blankets ever since. In November 2024, I saw a knitting challenge to raise funds for Cancer Research and thought I would love to do this but to crochet instead. My dad had cancer in his colon and bowel. Unfortunately, he didn’t look after himself before he passed away so by the time he was diagnosed, it was to late to have treatment. My dad would often refuse to go to see a doctor. At one point, when I was at University, he was walking around on a broken foot for two weeks until I came home and noticed the swelling!
So far, I have met my target thanks to very kind donations from family and friends. This is the link to my page: https://fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/page/beths-giving-page-220507 where you can still donate now. Any donation you can spare is gratefully received.

At the beginning of the month, I was working on the lights surrounding the gingerbread house (pictured above). I am now working on the jumper panels (pictured below, which is the section below from the pink stripe down).

The pattern was released on Sirdar’s website. If I followed the instructions, I should’ve made the four jumper panels separately in week 2 and joined them together later. In my experience, I find that it is easier for me to work directly on to the previous panel (as shown below).

This is a technique I learnt from Sirdar’s Coronation Blanket. I find that working this way prevents my blanket from bunching together.
Please let me know if you would like to see my Gingerbread blanket when it is complete. Bx
