Mum's Award 1

In July 2006, on the 60th Anniversary Celebrations of His Majesty the King of Thailand’s accession to the Throne, my mum, Sue Montgomery received an award for promoting Thai Culture and Thai Cuisine in the UK. As she was working in London and could not fly out to Thailand to receive the award from the King, the Princess of Thailand presented the award to my mother, as seen above, at the Thai Temple in Wimbledon.

The picture above is of my parents and me at the celebrations after the ceremony. As a family, we were in the catering business for over twenty years. From the age of ten-years-old, I would spend my summer holidays helping my parents in their cafe, restaurants and our cooking school. We sold our Thai Cookery School, when my father was diagnosed with bowel cancer. Sadly, he passed away last year (he would have celebrated his 69th birthday today).
