Happy New Year everyone! I wish you all a healthy, happy 2016 filled with love. I don’t know about you but I am really looking forward to this year because I have a feeling it will be a good one. To be honest it can only get better. Last year was tough. Really tough. Our family lost a beautiful soul at the tender age of 27 after a very brief battle with cancer. I still can’t process it right now so I will have to leave the subject there but before I do I will say that he will be forever missed.

OK, so I am not a big believer in resolutions. Actually, I can’t think of anyone I know who is but I feel as though I should set myself some ‘rules’ to guide the year. The first is something I am borrowing because it is the source of my inspiration (thank you C.S.). So my first guideline is to Love Thyself. I need to focus on this the most this year. I need to look after my body by eating well and to take care of my soul.

Secondly, it is to Be Kind which really just follows on from the first guideline. I should be kinder to myself especially as I am guilty of focusing on my negatives and what I feel are my flaws. I need to concentrate on building myself up and boosting my self esteem. I also want to spend my energy encouraging others. To build up their confidence. To help them to follow their dreams.

This year I would like to encourage others to Look for Happiness outside of material possessions. I have avoided a lot of social media recently as I have been frustrated by the number of people defining their worth by the things they own. Don’t get me wrong, I love handbags, clothes and gadgets as much as the next person. I really do but I just feel as though so many people are placing emphasis on this. The reason I started blogging was because I was inspired by a celebrity lifestyle blog. It was rich with experience and emotion. That website has change beyond recognition and so I aspire to focus on making mine about how it used to be. The good days, the quiet moments and to some extent, the struggles.

Finally, I would like to be more charitable in 2016. I think this will be the hardest goal to achieve but I will try to contribute as much time as possible to charities, such as Macmillan.

What are your hopes for this year? Looking forward to spending the next 12 months with you and hearing how you are achieving your dreams. Bx

Mummy Ramblings

I think I’m back! I think…
I’ve been suffering from a weird case of writer’s block recently that hasn’t just affected my writing, it has also affected my photo editing. Bang on six months, I took Heath’s pictures for the usual updates and BOOM! that was it. Nothing! No editing, no writing, nada. I tried to edit the pics last week and did a half ar*$d job. Thinking that I’d rather wait until I was in a better blogging mood than put up a mediocre post up, it has just sat on my computer waiting for me to click ‘Publish’. All week and a month late (he’s seven months already!).
Now, at 23.41 on a Friday evening, after going to bed at 19.30 (I’m so rock and roll!), I think I’m back and ready to blog.
I think I’ve been feeling a bit strange recently as I feel in a bit of a limbo. I’ve been sad as Heath, on the one hand seems to be developing at a rapid rate. He’s just this week learned how to ‘crawl’ in a straight line. There’s no more rolling to a destination, oh no. If he wants to be somewhere, he’s straight there, there usually being somewhere he shouldn’t be e.g. raiding the DVDs, or with his head in the nappy box or trying to take the knob off the surround sound. And then, on the flip side, he’s regressed in a lot of ways. He’s waking frequently for night feeds and had bad nappies so he’s constantly on the changing mat (I think he’s teething). It’s a bit of an emotional roller coaster, especially with all the sleep deprivation.

Anyway, long story short, I feel like I’m back and hope to get back into my flow by doing a bit more blogging. I won’t promise to publish several posts this week but that is my intention.
Thanks for sticking with me. See you soon. Bx
